The Question About Iraq- 20 October 2003:

by youngdiplomats

Where are the WMD's? Everyone is now asking. Many people are starting to realize (if they haven't already) what the 'conspires' were saying before, during and after the 'war' in Iraq is true. There are none. In the United Kingdom, news papers on top of news papers are asking about the '45-minute warning'. Because of the 'WMD's' there was a "Saddam could deploy a chemical and biological capability within 45 minutes." Was this a reason for war? There are people who would say yes. However, if you look at statistics, a lot of people were protesting. One of the biggest protests in history took place in Britain, and even in Europe. Before the war, everyone was protesting. MP's and American Diplomats were stepping down to say 'no' to the war. Robin Cook, MP wrote a speech saying how he couldn't do what PM Tony Blair was going to do and stepped down. Mr. Cook is still an MP. So many people were speaking out against and for the war. In the United States, I remember one day when I was watching the news, there was a protest to be for the war. The state I was, I remember there were like five people for the war protesting. Most of them were old and there was one little boy. They all looked bored. President Bush came onto the TV saying that "I know that you are protesting and you do not want war, but the truth is we are going to have war." He basically said 'tough cookies, I am going to do what I want.'

Then the war started. I was glued to the tv, thinking how much this would make history. What happened? Well nothing. Saddam Hussein fled; most of the people fled. If I recall, Mr. Hussein wanted to have a debate with President Bush. I would have loved to see that. And what did Bush do? He said no.

So the war was pointless; people died. American troops killed a lot of British troops and journalists and innocent people. I am not anti-American. I am just saying what I noticed. I know not all American troops or all Americans are evil and want to kill. I should know, I am American. I just could not believe how many innocent lives were being taken away over some power struggle. It was awful! So, this goes back to the start of the article, where are the WMD's? This is what I think will happen. People are going to question where they are. And all of a sudden, someone is going to say 'oops! I found the WMD's!"  When they just put them there to put 'people to rest' on that question.

Also what I find interesting is the fact President Bush is asking the UN for help. Now, hasn't the UN learned from mistakes in the past? I can name one on the top of my head: Rwanda.  So, this is what I propose:

1. the UN say 'NO' to President Bush.

2. the UN think of a peaceful action from the mistakes that they made in the past.

3. Germany and France are two big countries that opposed the war in the first place, [and I can remember the Middle East begging Bush not to go to war], they should keep their stand on their answer no with what awful tactic Bush is asking

4. PM Tony Blair doesn't agree with President Bush anymore and do what is right, what other people are saying, after all, he is a member of the Labour Party. He is for the people. What happened to that?

5. If John Lennon said "Let's give peace a chance" then why don't we do exactly what he said in the past, the world is speaking out by protesting PEACEFULLY; why must we keep killing innocent people over a power struggle???
